  11. <p>   Climate and clothing: Vienna's climate is similar to that of
  12. the northeastern US; clothing needs and tastes are about the
  13. same. Wear sweaters and light woolens during possible cool
  14. spells in summer.
  15. </p>
  16. <p>   Health: Local pharmacies are well stocked, and hospitals are
  17. adequate. The US Embassy can provide a list of English-speaking
  18. physicians and dentists in Vienna. Community health and
  19. sanitation are similar to that in the US; the Viennese are proud
  20. of their city's water, piped in from mountain springs.
  21. </p>
  22. <p>   Telecommunications: Telegraph and telephone services are
  23. efficient. Vienna is 6 hours ahead of eastern standard time.
  24. </p>
  25. <p>   Transportation: Public transportation in Vienna and other
  26. cities via bus, streetcar, and subway is good. Taxis are
  27. available 24 hours at stands throughout Vienna. Roads are good,
  28. though occasionally steep on alpine passes. Highways connect
  29. Vienna with Graz, Salzburg, Innsbruck, and the German border.
  30. The popular Austrian State Railway provides inexpensive service
  31. throughout the country and connections to Eastern and Western
  32. Europe.

  34. <p>   Tourist attractions: Austria has a number of widely
  35. differing tourist areas: Vienna and Salzburg; the lake and
  36. mountain district of the Salzkammergut; the Danube Valley, known
  37. for its vineyards, castles, and monasteries; Burgenland, the
  38. easternmost province, centering on the Lake Neusiedler seashore;
  39. and the Alpine Provinces, for hunting, fishing, and skiing.
